Embrace luxury at your fingertips with a Louis Vuitton motif manicure. This intricate design pays homage to iconic fashion, translating the elegance of the famed pattern onto your nails. The playful and vibrant citrus motifs evoke a fresh, fruity vibe. Elevate the timeless allure of a classic red manicure by choosing a shade that has a little shimmer.

White Nails With Evil Eye Detail

This year, we saw many more choosing designs with initials and messages, hand-painted or stamped onto nails. These are a great way to express yourself, particularly if you have a short message to convey or want to wear your initials or those of a loved one. Stylized letters can elevate an otherwise simple manicure with a monogram. Rather than displaying a logo, which is so 2019 (via Elle), you can make your own initials the star of the show. You could even put your phone number on your nails, if you dare.

White Nails With Rhinestones And Diamonds

Switching up your style, consider adding gold accents to your milky white nails for a touch of luxury and sophistication. This trend breathes life into classic milky white nail designs, giving you a glamorous, high-fashion twist. This manicure is classy and feminine that can complement anyone. Designs around the bottom of the nail are nothing new, but leaving it clear is a fresh take. And the scalloped edges add a delicate touch to the nail design.

White and silver gel nail designs

Add a few alternating designs into the mix to really raise the bar. So go ahead, try these ideas and elevate your nail game with these milky white designs. For an artistic touch, consider delicate nail art like tiny pearls or crystals subtly placed at the base or tip of your nails. The result could be a chic, fresh look that’s as safe as it’s stylish. This adds a touch of femininity and sophistication to your nails. Cute press on nails are also an option, adding a playful touch to your style.

The silky cream color creates an almost mirror-like smooth surface. And then the cute dark glitter accent adds a sweet touch to an otherwise fairly neutral look. Play with what accent you prefer to add and don’t be shy using different colors and textures. When choosing long, single colored acrylic nails, it can be a great idea to add a spot of fun with a foil accent. The use of the gold foil here is simple and classy, and works well with the square french tips and helps to slightly cut the visual line of the long nail. This super cool take on a manicure ditches the classic white tip and goes replaces it with a rose gold colored metallic strip.

They look great long or short, natural or acrylic, and they often pair beautifully with fun and unique accent art. It’s the perfect color for shy mani beginners or seasoned Kylies (girls, how do you do it? Respect). With our curated nail designs for white nails, your manicure will surely be in season.

This luxurious mani uses white and nude nail polish to create deep French tips, romantic hearts, luxe rhinestones, and pretty butterfly designs. This chic design not only enhances the beauty of your nails but also adds a glamorous touch to your overall style. With pearl embellished white nails, you’ll capture a unique blend of sophistication and creativity. Safety is paramount, so ensure you’re using non-toxic, cruelty-free nail polish. This revolutionary nails gel technique offers long-lasting shine and resilience, perfect for those seeking both beauty and durability. We think we’ve proven our point — the French tip is a great base for any design. These outlines add a bit of color, and the heart-shaped cherries feel like an ode to the ’90s.

But since it does show stains and dirt easier, the white nails can start to discolor before that time. Personally, I’m a big fan of Essie, but these two brands are pretty comparable. The MEMEDA Milky white nude gel polish is great for gel manicures. The key to a milky white manicure is choosing the right shade of white. It’s not completely sheer, but it’s not also completely opaque. Highlighted by a crisp square shape nail, this manicure is classy and modern, and the tinted white will pair well with those with warmer undertones.

Sometimes there is nothing better than a perfectly clean and natural look. These white nail designs are easy to accomplish at home if you are willing to take the time to properly shape and prep your cute nails. Remember that just like with clothing if it is simple, it has to be simply perfect. White nail designs stretch across multiple colors and styles to create an overall cohesive and cute look. The pairing of the rose gold and the pink is an adorable choice and brings out the rosy colorings of the foil and glitter. Then, the matte white really creates a great base to display your hip and sweet as sugar nails.

But on a more superficial but just as important level, for many of us, our nails are a way to express ourselves, our moods, and our aesthetics. Fortunately, you got endless options for white nail polish in the winter — from muted vanilla to bold white nail colors. Try this detailed, textured white nail design and some dollar nail art studs to manifest and welcome wealth throughout the year. This timeless design adds a touch of bohemian flair to the fingertips. The swirling white patterns on the vibrant blue and red base creates a visually stunning look. Transition into the colder months with a chic and fall-ready French gel manicure featuring silver tips and a burgundy base.

To help you compare the best home insurance quotes from Policygenius, our team of home insurance experts gave each of the largest home insurance companies in the U.S. by market share a Policygenius rating. Progressive Home® policies are placed through Progressive Advantage Agency, Inc. with insurers affiliated with Progressive and with unaffiliated insurers. Each insurer is solely responsible for the claims on its policies and pays PAA for policies sold.

Bundle auto and homeowners insurance

A good time to compare home insurance quotes is when you review your policy before your annual renewal. You’ll want to make sure your current policy fits your coverage needs. For example, you can create a home inventory to ensure your personal belongings are adequately covered. Or you can look into increased dwelling coverage (such as guaranteed replacement cost). We're the only homeowners insurance company that lets you compare home insurance quotes and coverages from multiple providers.

Nationally, more than half of U.S. homes are underinsured.1

Among the home insurance companies we analyzed, average rates show a cost increase of 32% from $350,000 to $500,000 in dwelling coverage and a 41% cost increase going from $500,000 to $750,000 in coverage. The information provided on this site has been developed by Policygenius for general informational and educational purposes. We do our best to ensure that this information is up-to-date and accurate. Any insurance policy premium quotes or ranges displayed are non-binding. The final insurance policy premium for any policy is determined by the underwriting insurance company following application. Along with coverage limits, your home's location has a major impact on your home insurance rates.

Common questions about homeowners insurance

Whether you’re working with an agent or on your own, plan to get at least three quotes. When comparing quotes, check that each policy has similar deductibles and coverage limits. You can get homeowners insurance quotes online, by calling the company or through a “captive” or independent agent. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of some of these methods. A standard home insurance policy covers personal belongings on an actual cash value (ACV) basis by default. This means if, say, your couch is damaged or destroyed and you file a claim, you'll only be reimbursed for the depreciated value of the property at the time of the loss.

To cover costs related to flooding, homeowners can purchase flood insurance from the National Flood Insurance Program or a private insurer. If your home was damaged, you should try to prevent more damage, such as boarding up a broken window. We wouldn’t suggest fixing the problem before contacting your insurance company.

We found that USAA delivers low prices and quality service to military members, veterans and their families. Those who are eligible should definitely consider USAA insurance. We also like that customers can take advantage of a variety of discounts through the USAA perks program, including hotels, rental cars and cruises. NerdWallet calculated median rates for 40-year-old homeowners from various insurance companies in every ZIP code across the U.S. The NAIC website is another source of information about how insurance companies have performed. You can find out how many complaints were filed against an insurer with state regulators, the reasons for the complaints, and whether there were more complaints than expected for a company of its size.

Policy Service and Claims

Regardless of how you go about calculating your dwelling coverage limit, you should make sure it's high enough to cover the home's replacement value, which is the price to rebuild it at today's prices. On average, home insurance premiums differ substantially based on how much dwelling coverage is in your policy. Here’s the average annual home insurance rate for five different levels of dwelling coverage.

In California, policyholders with one recent claim pay an average of $1,390 per year — an increase of 11%. Our sample homeowner had good credit, $300,000 of dwelling coverage, $300,000 of liability coverage and a $1,000 deductible. Insurance companies offer many home insurance discounts that can reduce your policy costs. We found that State Farm has decent prices and the highest average discount for bundling home and auto insurance among the companies we evaluated. Dog owners will like that the company doesn’t have a banned dog list.

If you have a mortgage, make sure to let your lender know about the change. Like independent agents, independent brokers also work on commission. But unlike independent agents, independent brokers may also charge a broker’s fee, which they generally must disclose to customers. This transparency allows you to know exactly how much the broker is earning from your business.

If you wouldn’t have enough money put aside to cover a high deductible, it’s best to choose a lower one. The average home insurance premium in the U.S. is $1,754 per year, according to a 2023 Policygenius analysis of home insurance premiums in every U.S. state and ZIP code. Because insurance companies often calculate ACV based on an item's lifespan rather than its physical condition, ACV payouts tend to be far less compared to RCV.

To help you determine how much home insurance is right for you, it is first helpful to understand what a typical home insurance policy includes — and excludes — so you can structure a policy that works for you. Pat Howard is a managing editor and licensed home insurance expert at Policygenius, where he specializes in homeowners insurance. His work and expertise has been featured in MarketWatch, Real Simple, Fox Business, VentureBeat, This Old House, Investopedia, Fatherly, Lifehacker, Better Homes & Garden, Property Casualty 360, and elsewhere. Allstate is one of the most popular home insurance providers in the country thanks to several customizable options, unique coverage add-ons like short-term rental coverage, and availability in all 50 states. In addition to deciding how much of each coverage you need, you should also look at how claim settlements are determined when comparing policies from different companies. We offer insurance by phone, online and through independent agents.

When getting a home insurance quote, the price you receive is the result of multiple coverage limits and policy details. That means you should consider more than the final price on the quote. One company may have higher monthly premiums, but you may also get more coverage for the price. The details below can help you get a sense of what to expect when comparing homeowners insurance rates.

For Policy A, you'll receive actual cash value after a loss, meaning you'll have to pay some amount out of pocket to completely replace the item. The replacement cost with Policy B, on the other hand, means your insurance company will reimburse you the full cost to replace your belongings after a loss. When comparing quotes from different insurance companies, you’ll have multiple components to compare. As an example, we made up two sample policies, which are described in part below. A standard home insurance policy excludes several types of problems. For example, common exclusions for house damage found in an HO-3 include floods, earthquakes, sinkholes, war, power failure, nuclear hazard, wear and tear, intentional loss, and vermin and insect infestations.

The price for similar coverage can vary drastically among insurers, as you’ll see below. When comparing rates in your best home insurance quotes, keep in mind that the average annual cost of home insurance is $1,754 for a policy with $300,000 in dwelling coverage. Comparing home insurance quotes from multiple insurers is the best way to find the right coverage for your needs at the cheapest price.

Odds and ends stored in closed storage bins that are stashed up high and out of your way tend to be forgotten about over time, however (the out of sight, out of mind principle). A professional repair technician can determine the source of the failure. Typical causes include a drive failure or improper settings. If your automated garage door uses a remote control that provides error codes, check yours and provide the error code to the technician.

If fresh batteries don’t fix the issue, examine the remote for condensation, water or other evidence of dampness damage. If water entered the remote control, it could stop functioning. Soho House Chicago Expert Review Fodors Travel

soho house chicago

For 20+ years we've scoured the earth, evaluating hotels that meet every taste and budget, creating a hand-picked selection that's proven and inspired. In fact, our painstaking curation led to Michelin making us the official hotel selection of their legendary MICHELIN Guide. The MICHELIN Guide had always been a benchmark in gastronomy. My first Chicago lesson was not to waste a good stomach rumble on that touristy pizza stodge. The hotel is a six-storey converted belt warehouse in the West Loop foodie nirvana, among buzz-joints such as Girl & the Goat, Au Cheval, Next and Aviary.

MICHELIN Guide

For those properties, we provide real-time rates and availability via a partnership with Booking.com. All three dining venues open to non-members who are hotel guests offer drink menus. The Allis is where you'll find the most exquisite wines as well as craft cocktails with fun flavors, like "Turning Japanese" with its chamomile, lavender, spiced pear and whiskey. The West Loop is hopping and if you're a foodie who has to hit all the best spots then this is your place because everything is a quick walk.

Loews Chicago Hotel

There are five treatment rooms plus six chairs dedicated to servicing manis and pedis. Non-members can add the privileges at checkout through our 30 day free trial, cancellable at anytime. You’ll also get access to member-only discounts and a dedicated team of travel experts ready to provide personalized assistance along every step of your journey. Every booking you make at a Plus Program hotel will be packed with privileges that pay for themselves in as little as one stay.

Restaurants

You Should Know The Tiny and Small room category is just what it sounds like...small. You might consider upgrading to a larger room (the Medium room is 500 square feet) if traveling as a couple. Sign up for a free 30 day trial of Plus Program and receive VIP upgrades and amenities at the world’s most exciting hotels.

"Top Chef" winner Stephanie Izard's Girl & The Goat (literally around the corner) hasn't slipped out of style since its 2010 opening; on the dinner menu are a mix of raw bar, pig and pork items. Across the street is Au Cheval, which many Chicagoans dub the city's best burger. Tip Enjoy the Chicago-skyline view with food and drink delivered poolside at the rooftop pool. Cowshed Spa is here, like at other Soho House properties, around the globe.

Occupying a former belt factory in the West Loop, this private members club's hotel feels like a bohemian artist's loft. Artists, architects, and musicians lounge in the chandelier-decked lobby, which slings cold-pressed juices by day and craft cocktails at night. The contemporary-art collection, featuring pieces by the likes of Damien Hirst, is a draw for art lovers, while foodies appreciate the proximity to Randolph Street restaurants.

Hotel Intercontinental Magnificent Mile

Best of all, you can book as many Plus stays as you want, for whomever you want. Tablet Hotels was added to the Michelin family in 2018 when it merged with the MICHELIN Guide and became the source of the hotel selection.

Exclusive review: Soho House Chicago

I crave ferociously to hole up in one of the 'medium size' rooms - in truth more capacious than an average British flat - during a harsh Chicago winter. I will dress only to eat at the in-house Pizza East, take boxing classes in the gym's full-sized fighting ring, or have my antlers filed in the Cowshed spa while watching one of the cute retro Fifties TVs. I will brave the cold only for supper at the utterly glorious, serious-about-beer restaurant The Publican. Up on the rooftop is the hotel's 60-foot-long pool flaunting superb Chicago-skyline views.

The Aviary (8-minute walk), if you can snag a reservation, is a haute cocktail bar that's a definite experience, where mixologists employ a chef-grade kitchen for their craft. Swift & Sons (8-minute walk), also in the Fulton Market area, has one of the city's best wine lists and is your basic old-school steakhouse reinvented. Tablet Hotels is all about discovering the world's most exciting hotels — places where you'll find a memorable experience, not just a room for the night.

Obviously, I've spent a thousand high days, holidays and raucous hooplas within the environs of 'Nick Jones Inc' too. Jones is the bon-vivant entrepreneur behind the group, and my end-of-year accounts suggest I may be putting his children through school via my weekly commitment to Pinotage and plates of spianata calabra alone. Yet it's the solitary, recuperating times at Little House in Mayfair or High Road House in Chiswick that I remember most vividly. Travellers quack about the impersonal nature of brands and chains, but for me this is hogwash.

Handsome hotel rooms, which are clubby but not cloying, are open to the public. Hotel guests also get access to three on-site restaurants, bar, spa, gym and rooftop pool. In each of the Big rooms is a free-standing tub and walk-in rainforest shower, while all other rooms have a shower only (which is the size of a large closet). Grey tiles on the floor and walls are a nice shift from all-white baths. Toiletries are from Cowshed Spa, linked to all Soho House properties, including the Chicago hotel's spa.

Outdoor fireplaces and beach-house-type furnishings make this feel more like California than Chi-Town. One nice advantage to checking into a hotel not in downtown Chicago is that there's more square footage in the hotel's footprint. This includes the lobby, where the decor evokes the 1920s and 1930s with exposed-brick walls, plush tufted-back armchair and sofas, an open concept and crystal chandeliers overhead. There's not a single piece of furniture that doesn't look like it came from that time period, too, but that hasn't gotten in the way of folks working on their laptops for hours here. We're always trying to bring you more amazing hotels, more quickly. But not every hotel can immediately connect their reservation system with ours.

Book direct on MICHELIN Guide and feel secure with our dedicated travel specialist team ready to assist.Best prices are guaranteed. Still, I didn't flee to the new Chicago House - the newest branch and largest to date - in search of succour. Like many Brits, I have no true grip on the psycho-geography of Chicago.

Sure, it's a bit of a haul to get to the lakefront for museums and cultural attractions but you're really only crossing the Loop area, made easy thanks to public-transit as well as Uber and Lyft drivers. For creative professionals, you'll not only drool over the design but if you bring your business cards you might even engage in some networking with fellow guests and members. You'll still enjoy the full fabulous MICHELIN Guide experience when you book, including our legendary service and delightful style.

Nino has more than 20 years of experience as a graphic and web designer, and has developed numerous comprehensive identity systems for both public and private projects. Driven by a desire to improve people’s lives through the spaces he designs, Ben enjoys working on residential, public park, and private development projects across a wide range of scales. He draws inspiration from the ecologies within a site, making sure the spaces he designs blend seamlessly with the local landscape and topography.

DO I NEED PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE TO USE THE BDW?

brown design workshop

The city is an enthralling and pulsating being full of creative artists fueling its design culture, fierce spirit, and innovative mind. The NYCxDesign brings the global contributions of NYC designers into focus during this festival. There are going to be virtual events, group exhibitions, public installations, and a whole lot of celebrations.

I ALREADY HAVE EXPERIENCE, DO I STILL NEED TO TAKE A WORKSHOP?

Believing there is nothing more sacred than ‘home’, the most reliable source of knowledge are the people who occupy it. Based in our Aspen studio, Alison is driven from the belief that designers have a social responsibility to influence the dynamic between space and people as a way of creating more livable communities. She began her career researching social interaction in Spanish plazas as a Ryerson Fellow and has dedicated the past 20 years of practice towards bringing people together to celebrate the places they love. She loves working at a range of scales, from managing award-winning community planning projects to detailed design of social spaces. In every effort, she applies her broad understanding of place to creatively build relationships, understand the issues and offer solutions that align with community values.

Her attention to detail and thorough communication has delivered timely results throughout her career. She enjoys getting her boots dirty in the field and ensuring quality is delivered through completion. Sarah received her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Louisiana State University. She is a member of the Urban Land Institute, Central Houston and ASLA and currently serves as Chair of the Houston/Gulf Coast Section of Texas ASLA.

The Information Architecture Conference

Over the course of the BrownTogether campaign, the Brown Design Workshop has continued to evolve and grow in popularity. As more and more students have started to discover the BDW, its director believes it may be time to envision what the next chapter of the space could be. The Brown Design Workshop is the place where students and community members can not only push the boundaries of what they dream, but of what they can create. From bookshelves to satellites to Formula 1 car chassis, there’s no limit to what students are creating inside the University’s makerspace.

Students come to the BDW as part of their Introduction to Engineering classes and end the class by creating bio-inspired medical devices for their final project. “Our 3D printers and laser cutters are usually at work at all hours, because students often use them for different classes or even for making toys,” BDW Manager Caroline Kaleel ’24 said. She added that students are also encouraged to navigate their interests by using the material circulation station, where samples and pieces are organized based on material type.

Please visit the website to check out the full roster of the festival and take part in some intense and fun design discussions. His experience in both the public and private sector offers him a unique perspective to find solutions that are financially sustainable, socially responsible and well-loved by all users. Xiaojian is a landscape designer and project manager based in our Los Angeles Studio. She is passionate about high performance design and planning projects that gracefully blends science and art. Her experience ranges from citywide parks master plans, urban greening master plans to high-end residential and mixed-use development projects. Working on a broad range of project types has sharpened her technical skills and her ability to collaborate with design teams, clients and communities.

STUDENT EMPLOYEES

Based in our Houston office, Brian is a senior urban designer with over 12 years of experience in community design, planning and landscape architecture. He believes that design is a process and a way of discovery that serves to reconnect us with what matters most. Through his natural talents for team building, big idea thinking, and visualization he is a trusted leader in the design and management of projects.

One of the many great things about being a designer is the constant exchange of ideas. On the surface, it may look like a solitary job but the creative process for any design work involves a lot of conversation at one point or another. You could be a product developer or a marketer, the exchange would only get richer, more insightful. Since October 2023, the club has done 3D-printing workshops, holiday ornament-making with laser cutters and wardrobe upcycling — all of which have largely been funded by bake sales while making use of the BDW’s free machinery. For this project and others like it, Bull has lined up assistance from students who can work in the shop remotely. Eric Dubois, a senior biomedical engineering concentrator, has been running 3D printers over the internet from his home in New Hampshire.

The hospital asked if Bull might be able to make a special type of face shield worn by practitioners performing intubations. The shields fit inside a soft helmet, and a blower creates positive pressure in the helmet so nothing can get inside. The hospital had plenty of helmets, but were concerned that they might not have enough shields.

Throughout his 37-year career, Steve has led land planning and design projects that have shaped and redefined communities. He feels fortunate that many of these projects have had a significant and positive impact on the region that surrounds his home and our Tahoe studio. His career has taken him across the globe, from North America, Asia, and the Middle East, and these professional experiences have sharpened his technical capacity and his appreciation for working in diverse natural and urban environments. A profuse and influential writer, Kurt has published articles on that span the profession, including community engagement, practice-based research, landscape history, and urban ecology. In recent years, has turned his attention to issues of environmental equity, elevating the discourse and championing the creation of ASLA’s Environmental Justice Professional Practice Network. The industry-standard on design conferences, this is an unmissable social event for designers and other creative professionals.

With a 13-year background as a municipal planner and Community Development Director, Jessica is well versed in creating connections, community, and delivering for public and private clients alike. Based in our Chicago studio, Brian specializes in creating spaces that promote healthy ecologies while delivering significant cultural improvement for all users. With a passion for preserving historic significance and advocating land stewardship, Brian is driven to find the balance between creating unique places and maintaining character. His ambition is to create resilient landscapes that everyone can enjoy for many generations to come. As a landscape architect based in the Aspen studio, Aaron’s experience implementing projects across the U.S. and Central America provides a body of knowledge for constructing projects in a wide range of climates, often with cultural challenges. Since joining the firm in 2021, he has been focused predominantly on large residential projects and believes in building enduring places of beauty, art and craft that restore the human spirit.

His work in both small-scale residential garden design and large-scale resort redevelopment, planning and design has garnered many awards and commendations. Richard is a fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects and a past board member of both the Landscape Architecture Foundation and the American Institute of Certified Planners. He is a registered landscape architect in Arizona, Nevada and Wyoming and a LEED®-certified designer. In 2009 he was the recipient of the American Society of Landscape Architects Design Medal, and in 2012 the American Horticultural Society (AHS) presented him with its Landscape Design Award at the Great American Gardeners Awards Ceremony. He believes that our community’s health and happiness are greatly strengthened by spending time in the natural world. Through research, analysis, iteration, and innovation, he strives to formulate a creative design response to parallel the inherent beauty of nature in urban environments.

First Round is a brilliantly innovative design event that allows you to do just that. Amp up your social as well as sales skill so you can communicate what’s on the page (or screen). It’s a one-day event where you will get to see real designers go on stage and show you the branding and logo design presentations that they once presented to their clients. Although they graduate this year, Gutierrez and Dikilato have no plans of slowing down.

Dining

About Tablet Hotels

The Aviary (8-minute walk), if you can snag a reservation, is a haute cocktail bar that's a definite experience, where mixologists employ a chef-grade kitchen for their craft. Swift & Sons (8-minute walk), also in the Fulton Market area, has one of the city's best wine lists and is your basic old-school steakhouse reinvented. Tablet Hotels is all about discovering the world's most exciting hotels — places where you'll find a memorable experience, not just a room for the night.
